Raise your hand if you LOOOOVE salsa and chips 🙋 I have loved salsa since I was a little girl. I remember when my dad first introduced it to me and I fell in love with it. When I got diagnosed with Celiac Disease and a dairy allergy, I had to completely change my diet to be 100% gluten free and dairy free pretty much overnight. I remember mourning the loss of my favorite foods. Thankfully, salsa and chips are naturally gluten and dairy free so this was one snack I never had to give up/change!

I have spent YEARS perfecting this salsa recipe and I am so happy to finally be able to share it with the world and my fellow salsa-holics. This recipe is so easy you’ll be enjoying a nice bowl of fresh salsa in 5 minutes or less! You only need 5 ingredients; tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeños and salt.
This salsa is perfect for dipping those chips, topping tacos, on eggs and pretty much anything you can imagine! Check out a couple of my Pro Tips below that make this recipe that much easier.
Pro Tips:
- Using a 28oz can of whole peeled tomatoes is super easy and my preferred method for when I am in a rush (also, who really enjoys peeling tomatoes anyway?)
- This recipe can be made in either a food processor or a blender. If you have a small food processor, you may want to opt for a blender. This is my favorite food processor and my favorite blender to make this salsa (and everything else) in!

5x5 Salsa - 5 Ingredients, 5 Minutes
Enjoy the taste of fresh salsa in just 5 minutes or less!
Ingredients
- 12 Roma Tomatoes peeled - you can also use a 28 oz can of whole peeled tomatoes, drained
- 1/2 White Onion
- 2 Jalapeños
- 1 handful Cilantro
- 2 tsp salt if you would like more salt then feel free to add one more tsp
Instructions
-
Peel tomatoes and set aside (skip this step if you are using a 28oz can of whole peeled tomatoes)
-
Slice onion in half
-
De-stem and remove the seeds from the jalapeños (if you want hot salsa, do not remove the seeds)
-
In a food processor or blender combine tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, a handful of cilantro and salt by pulsing 8-10 times. You want to make sure you pulse otherwise your salsa may become more soupy.
-
Enjoy with some chips or topped on just about anything!

You’re welcome, Anne! That brings me such joy to know that you and your husband enjoyed this salsa! Cheers to taco night! – Angela 💜
Made this tonight to have with our tacos for taco night and my husband couldn’t stop eating it and said it was the best salsa he has ever had and I totally agree! It really only took me a few minutes to prepare thank you for the accuracy with the timing it bothers me when recipes promise to be quick but actually take a long time. We will be adding this recipe into our rotation for taco night every week.
You’re welcome, Krystyna! I hope you enjoy this salsa as much as I do! 💜
